If you would like top class retirement living in an environment that cares about it's residents then this is the place to be in Perth. Their new facilities are excellent. There Ok but you'd be better off living in your own home. I learnt that when my grandma moved out she had to sell the home back for the price she bought it for which is a very poor investment in my opinion.
My mother was a resident of Sherwin Lodge for more than five years until her recent death. My family has nothing but praise for the kindness and quality care that she received while part of he community created by staff, Chaplains and residents at ' The Lodge'. Mum was an isolated person for most of her life, she was fiercely independent and quite defensive . The love and acceptance she received at Sherwin Lodge, made her last years much happier despite the difficulties created by her age and frailty. As a family, we appreciate the truely caring people who worked with Mum , the quality of the team of carers and their tolerance for our pain and frustration at seeing our Mother's physical and mental decline. We appreciated the positive atmosphere created by staff and their commitment to ensuring that there were many interesting activities available even to those residents who could no longer leave the confines of the facility. The lovely , sunny and protected courtyard garden is a haven for everyone . The advent of 'Puss', the rescue cat who lived in the courtyard, brought delight and social stimulation to many people. The individual kindness and the willingness to go out of their way to make an old woman feel loved and at home made my Mums last years much better than any of us had expected.
Very clean...Family friend very happy there.
