We are extremely disappointed with the care and well-being of our mother while at Opal. She was left in bed for long periods at a time without a pressure mattress which caused her to develop bedsores which then became infected. The place was under staffed. The language barrier was difficult with many staff speaking in broken English which was very hard to understand especially over phone conversations. When we requested a meeting with the doctor, nurse and palliative care nurse, the only one that attended was the palliative nurse. No doctor and they called a nurse from another floor who new nothing about Mum. In the end we were given less than one hours notice before being told she had passed away with no time to get to be with her. They should have known she was in her final hours. We had to pay a $35 daily fee for extras that weren’t used as mum had dementia and didn’t know to ask and wasn’t offered anything. The wedding ring mum didn’t remove in over 70 years is missing and now we don’t even have that. All we got is sorry each time something happened but sometimes sorry isn’t enough when it’s your loved ones. Well Opal, we are sorry we put mum into your care or lack of care. Would Never recommend this facility.
Alfred Cove Care Community has such a beautiful homely vibe. I am extremely grateful for the care, attention and support of myself for my mothers transition to this wonderful home. Its the first time in months my mother expressed happiness. Thank you to the Alfred Cove Care Community team.
Horrible, horrible service. Calls go unanswered, Skype calls are not arranged, people answer and then leave you on hold, staff members keep changing. I have also just been hung up on. This aged care centre is an absolute mess in my view. Avoid
Great place, super friendly staff. From the very first day they have kept me up to date on how dad is doing. Any requests are actioned if they can and staff are very flexible and accommodating. Clean and new rooms, can not speak highly enough and am so grateful that we were able to get dad in here.
Opal Alfred Cove is an outstanding aged care facility. The staff are extremely caring and capable, the administration is outstanding, and the facilities are superb. My mother has been at Alfred Cove almost since its opening, and the entire experience has been uplifting and inspiring. The staff go to extreme lengths to assist in every possible way, and the levels of medical and personal care are exemplary. As good as the facilities are, it is the quality of the people at all levels that really stands out. The response to the Covid 19 crisis has been particularly impressive. At no stage did I doubt that the facility had the very highest interests of every resident as the touchstone for dealing with every aspect of the crisis: medical supervision, constant communication via Skype and telephone, extreme caution in setting up appropriate procedures for physical visits, and open access to the higher administration in dealing with queries and ideas. Congratulations to the entire Opal team: the CEO, the manager of Alfred Cove, the administrative team, the nursing staff, the carers, and the recreational officer. Your facility is a model for others to aspire to and to emulate.
