Don’t be deceived by the attractive building plan and architecture of Bethanie Gwelup. I have no doubt the staff there are dedicated and hard working people, but the administrative processes and protocols are somewhat questionable. From my experience is the ongoing search for missing (or stolen?) personal items and the internal communication breakdown when the families of loved ones need to be notified during the most urgent of situations. If possible, I feel the Feds need to do a lot more to keep people at home in their final years of life to avoid being forced into an aged care facility.
We live 10 minutes drive from Bethanie Gwelup and my mother-in-law passed away with no loved ones by her side due to a staff "breakdown in communication". Doesn't get much worse than that!! Speaks volumes really.
It is so sad that Mum passed without having time to appreciate the simply wonderful people and facilities at Bethanie Gwelup. We have the highest regard for the team approach to the care of my mother. We received the very best personalised attention from when we first submitted the application. Our questions were answered promptly and there was no delay in organising a tour of the facility. On our first visit we were warmly received and the tour guide answered all our questions - and we had lots of questions. There was no delay in admitting Mum and she received appropriate gentle, caring and loving nursing care. The care staff are to be commended for their devotion to their job. However, it is so much more. Every person we encountered greeted us with kindness and offered assistance and that wasn’t just for Mum but for us too.
Sadly my mother in law only got to enjoy a couple of days at Bethanie Gwelup but the warm welcome and care she received was second to none. Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff for being so beautiful and caring to Joy ❤️
To the management of Bethanie Gwelup and Bethanie Head Office, I hope you are reading this. To the caring families who are considering using this facility, please read on. We have recently been in the unfortunate experience of having to use your facilities. My mother-in-law was transferred to Gwelup from the beautiful facility at Bethanie Kingsley due to developing dementia. I can't speak highly enough of the Staff at Bethanie Kingsley, exceptional management is what I put it down to and you can read my review if you Google "Bethanie Kingsley". Bethanie Gwelup is around 6 months old at the time of writing this review. I can honestly say for a brand new facility it is DISCUSSING!!!! The management should be totally ashamed of themselves and need to look into a different career. 1. No-one on duty to let you in, you need a pass or wait for another family visiting to let you in. 2. Under staffed Dementia ward, most staff seem to be untrained and lack any compassion for needy residence. Hopefully the Royal Commission will put an end to rouge operators like the management at Bethanie Gwelup 3. It was almost 2 hours after my mother-in-law passed away did any staff member check on her. Pathetic!!!! 4. Slight Smell of urine, absolutely unacceptable!! I look forward to reading a response and would be happy to personally discuss this further.
