Since the new company has taken over things have completely changed, especially with the new management. This place has done a complete 180 from being a poorly run, neglected home to being a place I would happily recommend to anyone considering. I am very thankful for this place
Once upon a time this lodge was a family friendly, safe place for seniors to see out their lives. My MIL was in here as she was unable to be cared for at home. What a mistake, she was unable to feed herself due to confusion and her tray was placed out of reach and was taken away uneaten. Her fluids were the same. When I went in to put a complaint I was subjected to an aggressive CEO who did not listen. My MIL passed and had bruises over her face and upper body from falling out of bed. She was refused bed rails as it was against ‘policy’ Very sad situation. Please research before placing your loved ones in this place
Don’t let the facilities fool you. It may be beautiful looking on the outside but it’s definitely not on the inside. It seems Management, CEO and Board are more interested in the profit margins than caring for patients. It’s terribly understaffed. I completely disagree with their handling of the Covid-19 situation. Residents are still not allowed visitors on the weekend and only 1 person for an hour a day during the week (depending on who you are). The isolation of these people is nothing short of inhumane. Hocart Lodge is the last place I’d want to spend my remaining years.
Giving a 1 purely because I can’t give a 0. This review is not for the staff who do their very best every day, it is for the management. Terribly understaffed and the way they have managed the Covid-19 situation has been purely to suit themselves. Allowing 1 visitor for one hour a day on weekdays and nobody on weekends despite the government pleading aged care facilities to allow 2 visitors for two hours every day of the week. It seems they are putting their personal agenda over the well being of their patients
I found this place totally lacking in personality. The carers cared for my friends daily needs as far as cleanliness and hygiene but she was totally ignored for the rest of the day. She had MND so her brain was totally switched on. She was very lonely even though we visited every day. I found management were alienated and unavailable, Unfriendly and unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend this place unless the person being cared for has dementia.
