Mertome Aged Care Home, located in Perth's City of Bayswater, is a 70-bed facility established in the 1970s as Australia's first local government-built aged care complex. It specializes in high-level care including respite and dementia support. The facility features lush gardens, communal dining and lounge areas, an activity room, and a chapel. Additionally, it has a doctor's room, a podiatry room, and a hairdressing salon. There are four internal courtyards for relaxation.
Mertome is accessible via Bayswater Train Station and nearby public transport on Beechboro Road. In 2019, Hall & Prior partnered with the City of Bayswater to manage and refurbish the facility, enhancing its services and amenities for residents.

My grandfather used to reside there & he lived a sound & enjoyable time whilst being @ Mertone
I use to drive the seniors 20 years ago so when i went back after all those years there wasn't a single person i knew including staff and thats understandable . But the place looked the same peaceful and calm .
Taking great care of my mum, they are so caring and friendly! My mum was sceptical at first but she loves being there and after 4 months she calls it home... thank you to everyone for making her feel so welcome xx
With the new refurbishments, it looks so good. Residents are happier and care staff are very diligent. Located in a quiet corner....excellent for caring for elderly.
