Easter 2022, Newmarch house staff broke my mothers wrist while transferring her after a shower. A few days after that, my mum got Covid-19 from yet another staff outbreak at the facility. My mother died from complications 4 weeks later. My mum would be alive today, if not for the incompetent, unprofessional staff, bringing Covid-19 back into Newmarch house. In the last 2.5 years, Newmarch house continued to fail my mum. The staff were so untrustworthy, i had to put CCTV in my mother's room. What i caught on camera was shocking & disturbing:- staff stealing items from the room, staff mishandling my mum, staff sleeping on my mum's bed, staff jumping on my mum's furniture, staff using my mum's room as a staff room to chat all night- while my mum tried to sleep, staff stripping urine soaked sheets off the bed- but leaving my mum soiled in a chair. The list goes on..... At every occassion, the facility manager and general manager told me, "sorry". Staff couldnt administer the correct medication. Sorry. Staff couldn't administer the correct thickened fluids, which resulted in my mum aspirating and going to hospital. Sorry. Staff couldn't prepare a decent puree meal for my mum to eat. Sorry. Every time, i was told, "sorry", but nothing was ever resolved, or fixed, and the mistakes continued. This facility never recovered from the 2020 covid outbreak, and they still do not know how to contain an outbreak when it happens. The staff are more complacent and lazier than before, except now, they have a chip on their shoulder, and resent being there. Sadly, nothing will ever change at Newmarch house because Anglicare dont take any accountability for any staff errors. The general manager will make a bunch of empty promises that are unfulfilled, and so the cycle perpetuates. As an established aged care provider, you would expect Anglicare to be a leader in this field. If you google them, you will see they have strong core values. The reality however, is very different. Ive never seen Anglicare's core values upheld. Anglicare's Newmarch house does not exceed standards or expectations, they still haven't reached compliance! They will tell you everything you want to hear, but never the truth. If you love & care for your family, you will not put them in this facility. You will never be told the truth and your family member will only be neglected and mistreated. Trust me, you will regret it.
In the 50 nursing homes I have worked at only 3 Facility managers are memorable and Pearson the current facility manager of Newmarch house is a gem. He genuinely cares about his residents and their families and is customer service focussed. His smile lightens up the room and he returns emails abd phone calls most of the time
WORST EXPERIENCE!!! the staff behaved very rudely and inhumanely. The staff treat you like a machine or animal. Made me work whole shift without having any break.
My mum couldn’t be happier. Loves the people, the activities and the food. We find the care provided to be excellent.
If this is the way Anglicare treat our elderly parents, they should be shut down and fined millions of dollars. I am sure that if any of the residents failed to pay their bills, they would be thrown out very quickly. I am sure they don't do it for free. Shame on the entire organisation.I will not be going to a Nursing or Retirement home. A plastic bag and gaffer tape is the best option.
