Fantastic country hospital lovely staff that couldn't be more helpful
Unfortunately I have a few health concerns and I’m a frequent visitor to this hospital. The Corowa Hospital is a typical small town facility. It’s a small hospital with aged care facilities built in The nurses are overworked and understaffed, with now only 1 nurse on overnights in the Emergency Department! If they’re lucky they may have another staff member present overnight. Prior to the pandemic, you could get access to a doctor directly from the Emergency Department. They would be on call overnight for anyone who needed them in an emergency situation. Some doctors would even sleep at the hospital while they were on call. I’m not sure what happened but now at Corowa hospital, doctors are now only available in the Emergency Department between 8am-10pm. After those hours you are left with Rural and Remote Health Care, which is a simple phone call. You are assessed by a doctor who only has the nurse’s opinion to go off, you are not seen by anyone. I’m almost certain you’d have to be dying before a doctor will step foot into the hospital after 10pm!! I feel sorry for the nurses who are there putting up with the constant delays, lack of staff and frustration of patients who are waiting for hours and still can’t see a doctor.
My uncle and I were in a hurry as he was being affect by a stroke, the hospital was not equiped and unfortunately he passed away. I hope they can do better in the future
I call asking for a covid test for my kids as everywhere is full in Albury/Wodonga and they just hung up! I knew it was a long shot, but at least show some professionalism in the way you treat people.
Nurses and doctors are absolutely useless. Corowa Hospital is trash. Doctor had to YouTube how to cast an arm and didn't even do it properly. I have been so many times and nothing is ever done right. Always end up going to wang or albyry Hospital.
