I have worked in aged care before. I would not place a loved one here. My family deserved better.
Staff will see you waiting and keep you waiting standing for 5-10 mins gossiping together, fully aware you’re waiting. Absolutely no rush or priority to help anyone. Some staff are lovely and some are rude
Unless your a frequent visitor there you will not see the downfall of this once very well run home. 90% of the staff are amazing and really care for their residents. Since being taken over it has gone from brilliant to below standard. Lack of staff just using bare essentials of carers and the meals are poor. It’s all about Money now so sad .
Be very watchful of the care at this facility. The care looks well attended & the documentation of the care "provided" is perfect BUT, have found that the ACTUAL care is not attended as documented. Many instances of dental care attended but toothbrush is bone dry(subsequently father has had 4 teeth fall out, caries & broken teeth) as his care is not attended. He came in to the facility with all his teeth & not a single filling. Apparently shower attended but shower is completely dry, not a single drop of water found directly after shower apparently done. Sensor mat not on bed or not working so high falls risk; & so on. Staff are lovely & polite but are unable to perhaps meet the workload without making up care. Facility presents well on appearance but care gaps are huge. Possibly unaware unless one knows to look. ie. worked in health care for many years. Good if resident can speak for themselves & can request care but very poor if one cannot . Nil initiative re care; everything has to be "requested" otherwise not done. 13/12/21-Addition: my dear father has passed away from complications arising from the absence of implementation of care.
When my sister and I realised we had to find an aged care home for mum, we were very conflicted and worried. We visited four different homes. From the moment we walked into Monash Gardens, we knew it was the right place for us. We have been incredibly impressed by the level of service provided. All of the staff are lovely and go out of their way to help us. I receive regular phone calls updating me regarding mum's medications, her diabetes treatment and her physiotherapy. Mum broke her back as a result of a fall, She cannot stand or walk. She is bed-bound. The staff at Monash Gardens have worked closely with us to make mum as comfortable as possible and to give her the best care. It is a very traumatic time when you are placing a parent in an aged care home. This trauma was minimised for us by Monash Gardens. I do not hesitate to recommend this home.
