This facility is going down, it was good before, but now it is a prison. My mum (who is Chinese Vietnamese, can not speak English) find it hard to communicate with staff here, cause most of staff can not speak either Vietnamese or Cantonese.
This place has gone down the hill lately. Poor service and no care at all to the poor souls who stay here. I hope the owners of this business can rectify this by not being greedy and start investing in the health and wellbeing of the residents, upgrade the rundown building and rooms🏡, upgrade the food and also invest in staff training. The staff look like they are over worked and stressed out (Zombies) 🧟♀️ Maybe they are so under staffed and underpaided as well. I hope action and change comes from my review.🙏🙏🙏🙏
SummitCare Canley Vale is close to transport and train station. Conveniently for love ones to commute to the center. Staff was well trained, compassionate and thorough with their work. They are also very attentive to their patients every day needs.
Today my mother celebrates her 1 year anniversary of living in the SummitCare Canley Vale nursing home. Mum has experienced so many changes since she moved from interstate, staying in a care facility for the first time, not being able to go out or see family and friends during the lockdowns, and learning to talk with me via videoconference. It must have been really challenging for someone in her 90's if it weren't for the wonderful staff at SummitCare Canley Vale. The people there are so dedicated and passionate about looking after my mum and the other residents. They always respond to my questions and requests efficiently, and I find that they truly care about the welfare of the residents. Some staff are also multilingual, I don't need to worry about finding interpreters for mum because there are people around who can speak her language. The other great aspects about this nursing home are: Both western and asian menus are offered (thankfully because my mother would refuse to eat if she doesn't like the food); the doctor, physiotherapist, dentist, hairdresser are accessible on site. The location is awesome, close to the train station. There are lots of fantastic restaurants and shops nearby too, so it's convenient to take mum around during her outings. I wish to sincerely thank everyone at SummitCare Canley Vale, I really appreciate all your help. Thank you 🙂
Being & working in a nursing home is a tough & emotional time for all involved. My grandmother was admitted here under respite care & aside from the first day when management clearly wanted to make an impression, it was downhill from there. Seeing sick, elderly people being yelled at, sleeping on floors and outright ignored was a terrible experience to witness as a health care worker. Procedural guidelines were not met; no documented medication charts, unsanitary environment which smelt constantly of urine, a doctor who tries to do a ward round ‘when he can’, medications sourced from a pharmacy in Auburn for some reason (money?)...I could go on and on. I have left 6 months to write this review to remove personal emotion & I would like to make it clear- my grandmother was a terminal case & we wanted her to be in a comfortable environment, both facility wise & culturally wise. Neither were met. The best decision of my life was to discharge her & see the smile on her face. She passed 2 weeks later. I thank the lovely nursing staff and ESPECIALLY the kitchen staff who were always so kind & accomodating to my grandmother. Summitcare management on the other hand should take a good hard look at themselves. I would never recommend any of my patients, let alone a family member to this facility. Lesson learnt.
