TriCare Mermaid Beach is the place of broken promises and items of clothing constantly disappear when laundering is done. There is a lack of staff especially on the weekends so if you want to call your love one try to call the RN on the weekends and see for yourself.

As a regular visitor to this Facility, I would like to say Thank You to all those who tend to and look after my elderly loved one. It is with peace of mind I know he is in good hands under the Management of this Facility, its Administration, RNs, Chef and kitchen staff, Carers, Physios and Volunteers. I've also seen how workers help out with other jobs on top of their primary role and, in these circumstances, I would like those to know, from my end, it does not go unappreciated and admire their patience and resilience - it can't always be easy. I've always thought you have to be a special kind of person to care for people who cannot do it for themselves, and now from my firsthand experience with all the wonderful people I have had direct contact with in this Facility, I can certainly confirm those thoughts.

In our experience, we feel this facility is all about putting profit before people. Having our mother here for 18 months was mostly horrendous, especially as her care needs became more intense. This is in NO way a high care facility. They do not have the necessary equipment or enough staff and certainly very few qualified staff. That said, there are some very caring people who are working here, under difficult circumstances. Management made many promises and never delivered on any of them. Our mother passed away from complications from a fall while at TriCare, that was grossly mismanaged and misdiagnosed leaving her in agony for many hours.

While this aged care facility appears to be an upmarket hotel on the facade, the respite care my client received here in January was appalling. She suffers from Alzheimers, limiting her ability to communicate her needs, and was left in soiled pull-ups for prolonged periods of time, leading to her having permanent scarring on her bottom. When you visit this facility you'll notice there's very few care staff on the floor, which affirms why there's such a low level of care. If you have a vulnerable family member or client with dementia or special needs with communication difficulties, don't send them to this facility as they will not be cared for effectively. Very disappointing.
