Carers of this facility are mostly very kind and caring. However management is extremely unprofessional and negligent. Due to their negligence and the negligence of the doctors who ‘tended’ but continually ignored my mother and her condition, she had to go from her single room ‘low care’, to being rushed to hospital (for the third time in two years) and then being forced into ‘high care’. An absolute disgusting place for anyone to spend the remainder of their life. The rooms are four bed share with one bathroom, mostly dementia residents. My mother did not have dementia however this was never considered. Management not once called me in for a meeting to discuss the future of my mother, everything was aggressive over the phone, being yelled at insisting my mother go into ‘high care’. There was no act of kindness, compassion or consideration of her dignity coming from management, particularly during an extremely distressing time. The carers are overworked, short-staffed and from what I could see, not treated well. I was fortunate to find my mother a single room in another care facility where the standards were of the highest, where she was treated with dignity and utmost care and kindness. Due to the negligence of UNW Manly, my mother’s condition deteriorated and sadly she passed away yesterday. An absolutely despicable show of management, turning their back to the suffering of a resident. The negative/bad reputation nursing homes have, was displayed clearly in my experience with UWH Manly.

I Found Liz Graham the Manager to be unprofessional, with inadequate skills to do her job successfully, careless with no empathy.
